Intro

A campaign concept for Copenhagen Cartel, a sustainable swimwear brand made from recycled fishing nets. We designed a campaign video and website to bring an 18 to 25 year old audience into a brand that, until then, was speaking mainly to a 25 to 45 crowd.

Objective

Reach a younger audience without compromising on the brand's sustainability message, and turn that audience into active ambassadors rather than passive shoppers. The campaign needed to support a new visual identity and stand up to scrutiny from a generation that is quick to call out greenwashing.

Challenge

Interviews told us young people in Copenhagen care about the cause but find the prices too steep, follow trends instead of brands, and react badly to anything that feels like guilt-tripping or greenwashing. We had to talk to them about ocean pollution without making them feel lectured, and explain why a recycled swimsuit is worth their money when fast fashion is one click away.

Result

A campaign built around an ambassador programme: a dystopian, black-mirror style video imagining the life of a sea turtle surrounded by plastic, paired with a campaign website where young people can sign up to become ambassadors in exchange for student discounts and access to past season pieces. The site is built in HTML, CSS and JavaScript with a WordPress backend feeding the ambassador database, and is mobile first because that is where the audience actually is.
